Hat trick for Bournemouth and Poole College in nationally renowned apprenticeship awards

Bournemouth & Poole College’s Catering and Hospitality Department has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ for the third year in a row at 2023’s AAC Apprenticeship Awards.

The award for ‘Catering and Hospitality Apprenticeship Provider of the Year’ recognises the College as a leader in its field for developing apprentices into successful and influential workers in the hospitality industry.

Antony Carr, Director of Apprenticeships at Bournemouth and Poole College, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be named as a national champion in the AAC Apprenticeship Awards for Hospitality and Catering for the third year running. This achievement is testament to the dedication, commitment, and excellence of our delivery team, who are passionate catering experts that genuinely care about helping every student achieve their career ambitions.”

The College’s Catering and Hospitality department focuses on elevating the apprentice and employer’s experience through a combination of industry engagement, varied teaching, and open communication. Many of the department’s previous apprentices have now progressed to running their own businesses, and are choosing to recruit their apprentices through Bournemouth and Poole College.

In previous years, graduates from the apprenticeship scheme have gone on to secure placements in the best hotels in the world, such as The Ritz and Claridge’s. The College is ranked in the top 20 catering colleges in the world by the World Association of Chefs Societies, and provides a pathway for apprentices to work in a variety of sectors within the hospitality industry, from chefs to food production and service.
