This is an exciting course for students aged 16 -18 designed to give you the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 course upon successful completion.

You will be introduced to the world of Digital Media, focusing on a wide set of technical skills.

These will include Video Production, Audio for TV and Film, Photography as well as academic skills required to progress including Creative Writing.

Successful applicants will have access to current industry level software and equipment, editing facilities, video equipment and studios.

A team of enthusiastic, highly experienced staff will guide you through the course, showing you how Video, Audio and Photography are produced, and before letting you experiment with making these things for yourself.

What courses can I do after this? 

If entering without English and Maths, you will have the opportunity to progress through level 1 while gaining your functional skills in these subjects at the same time. 

What jobs can I get? 

Due to the considerable practical abilities and experience of the lecturers you will be working with, you will develop skills which could be transferred to TV Production, Film Production, 2D and 3D for Games, Animation, Film Compositing and Visual Effects, Advertising and so on.

These skills are all underpinned by exploring the History of Design; including Film, Gaming, Animation and Graphics.

To do this course you should have... 

You will need to achieve 5 GCSEs Grades 9-3 (formerly Grades A*-D), including English and Maths Grades 3 -1 (formerly D-G).

Course Content 

This course combines all aspects of media including video, Animation, planning to work in various industries and digital photography, while using all the latest software from market leader Adobe. At the end of the first year, if successful, you will achieve a Level 1 Award.

  • Film and video editing techniques

  • Audio recording and editing for Film and TV
  • Pre-production techniques for the creative media industries
  • Communication skills through creative media production
  • Research techniques for the creative media industry
  • Creative media production management project working to a brief in their creative media industries

You will be guided by lecturing staff and tutors throughout the course to help you produce your best work.

This will form a portfolio and grades required to carry on with your studies in Creative Digital Media.

All the areas of this course are designed to give you the technical skills and knowledge needed to be successful in this field.

You will also be able to improve your English and Maths as part of this study programme, at all levels.
