Learning Support
Students are our priority and we'll give you all the support we can, to help you succeed and enjoy your time with us.
Support for Higher Education (HE) Students
Academic support
The Student Inclusion and Support Team also assist students who may need additional help. The HE Coach can offer 1:1 sessions with students to further develop their study skills working through assignments, preparing for exams, developing revision skills and helping break down tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
Wellbeing support
Being comfortable, happy, healthy and safe are all important for a positive experience. However, if something does go wrong, we are here to support you.
The Student Wellbeing Coaches are a team who specialise in safeguarding and can support you directly with some of the more complex issues that can arise. They are specialists in providing support for:
- Student Wellbeing
- Student Mental Health
- Student Social Skills
Additional support for students
The College actively supports all students regardless of additional needs and we have a dedicated HE Support Coach who can advise on the type of support and resources available. This includes reasonable adjustments, referrals and signposting to specialist support and assessment for exam support.
If you are a Higher Education (HE) student studying, or planning to study with us, and you have a disability, you may be able to apply for a Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). This is funding that may be used to support your studies, especially if you have a:
- Long-term health condition
- Mental health condition
- Specific learning difficulty
The support you get depends on your individual needs and not on income. Further information including how to apply is available from: gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas/overview
