Course Overview

An option for reducing your carbon footprint if you are using oil, electricity, liquid gas, or solid fuels to heat your home, the installation of a heat pump may be a good way to mitigate any excess usage. Both the environmental and financial benefits have fuelled a surge in popularity for domestic heat pump installation – particularly over the last ten years– with an upcoming demand for qualified installation and maintenance operatives

We are now able to offer fully funded with no cost to pay, a nationally recognised Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pumps. This Award is fully recognised by many accreditation bodies of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

This short course will provide the knowledge and understanding required to install, commission and maintain groundsource and airsource heat pump systems.

You will explore and develop an understanding of:

  • Health and Safety requirements for the installation of heat pump systems
  • Regulations and legislation relating to heat pumps
  • Installation of heat pumps
  • Servicing and commissioning of heat pumps
  • Basic refrigeration principles
  • Carrying out safety checks
  • Domestic pipework installation
  • Checking system stability
