Course Overview

The Level 3 Automotive course is a 1 year full time course.

The course is dedicated to giving the learner the ability to carry out maintenance and repair on the main Vehicle components and systems.

This course is designed to enable the student to be able to diagnose and rectify faults and have a good understanding of the vehicle systems and how they work. 

Your learning will be assessed through a combination of:

• Workshop based tasks and questioning from your assessor
• Written assessments
• Online testing
• Recording your work weekly using an E-portfolio to show your progress.

Through a mixture of theory and practical lessons, you will develop the essential skills and knowledge required to work in the Automotive industry.

We will cover topics including but not limited to:
• Health, safety and good housekeeping
• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices
• Support for job roles
• Diagnosis and rectification of light vehicle engine faults
• Diagnosis and rectification of vehicle auxiliary electrical faults
• Diagnosis and rectification of light vehicle chassis system faults
• Skills and Knowledge in Inspecting Light Vehicles

 

Those who have successfully completed a Level 2 Automotive Diploma (Maintenance & Repair).

You will require 4 GCSEs at Grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C) in English and Maths and successful completion of a Level 2 Automotive Diploma (Maintenance & Repair) Alternatively, You will have previously achieved a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths and successfully completed a Level 2 Automotive Diploma (Maintenance & Repair).

All students studying on this programme will have a placement in a local Automotive establishment to gain valuable work experience to prepare them for employment.

This course will get your ready to apply and progress on to the Level 3 Apprenticeship standard

This course will get your ready to apply to work in an Automotive garage in a variety of roles including Light Vehicle Service Technician or a Light Vehicle Diagnostic Technician  http://wow.autocity.camart.co.uk/world-of-work

There is a £138 materials fee to be paid at enrolment
