Course Overview

This part time course has been designed for adults who have achieved a Level 1 Diploma and wish to learn advanced Carpentry skills to persue a career as a carpenter. The practical aspects of this course are delivered in workshops that are designed to simulate a working environment for realistic training. Based at our purpose built facility The Fulcrum Centre which is a five minute walk from Tower Park leisure complex, this course provides the complex woodworking skills and our experience staff will work closely with you to help you succeed. This course is a 1 year part time course which you will need to attend 2 evenings a week (Tuesday and Thursday) for 35 weeks.

  • Components to form products.  
  • Efficiency of the workplace.                      
  • Finishing components. Health and safety.        
  • Load and unload materials and components.            
  • Selection and use of access equipment.                              
  • Work relationships.

Students who have successfully completed Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery

In order to apply, you will require successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery. Desired but not essential, Grade 4 (C) GCSE in Maths and English.

You will be assessed through practical assignments and projects. Written theory papers are taken throughout the course. You will be taught using a variety of workshop activities, lectures, group activities, self-study, and directed study.

 

 

We offer a range of full time courses including apprenticeships.
 

On Successful completion of this course candidates will be ready to gain employment as an apprentice or improver

These pathways take place at the The Fulcrum Centre. The facilities in Construction are purpose built and all practical jobs are designed to make the candidate job ready!
