Course Overview

The Junior Chefs' Certificate is designed for young people aged between 14 and 16 years of age who have a lively interest in cooking and wish to develop professional cookery skills and techniques relevant to the Hospitality and Catering Industry.

 

The programme commences with an induction on the correct use of equipment and other health and safety issues. You will be taught cookery skills including vegetable cuts and soups to develop your knife skills. On your last day you will be presented with a certificate of completion.

For anybody who really enjoys cooking and would like to learn a more professional approach

Your parent/guardian will be required to complete a medical questionnaire which must be received before the start of the course.

There are no formal assessments

At aged 16 you may want to progress to one of our full time courses.

  • Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality & Food

Or explore at our apprenticeships:

  • In cooking: with our Apprenticeship Commis Chef course or if you are passionate about cooking our  Specialised Chef Scholarship

£150 All ingredients are supplied.

You will be required to wear non-slip shoes that cover and protect your feet, black trousers and a white T-shirt. It will also be necessary for you to bring a tea towel and container to take home your finished dishes.
