Course Overview
The Health and Social Care sector is dependent on passionate and fully trained professionals. The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma, enables you to progress into these career prospects by combining work experience within the sector and academic study. The course is delivered over two years and covers a range of units, including Human Lifespan Development, Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Safe Practice in a HSC Environment, and Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
After completing the NCFE CACHE two year course you can progress into employment and embark on further occupational training. Alternatively you can progress onto Higher Education at University, training in Social Work, Paramedic Science, Nursing and other professions.
The course is delivered over two years and covers a range of units, including Human Lifespan Development, Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Safe Practice in a HSC Environment, and Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
This course is for young people who are interested in a career within the HSC sector including Nursing, Midwifery, Health visitor, Paramedic Science and Social Care.
You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 including English, Maths and Science. Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification e.g. Level 2 Science, and have achieved a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths.
You will be assessed by a variety of methods including written essays, reports, presentations and relective accounts, and a external synoptic assessment in year 1 and another one in year 2 as well as 1 x external short answer examination covering the Unit on ‘Anatomy and Physiology’.

As part of the study programme you will be required to complete a minimum of 45 days (315 hours) work placement in both years 1 and 2. This is mainly completed in residental homes for the elderly.
Academic progression is to access to HE (Social Work, Nursing and Health Professions).
Work progression to job roles such as Project Worker, Day Care Officer and Assistant Social Worker etc.

At Bournemouth & Poole College, we are seeking dedicated, motivated and innovative students who want to make a positive contribution in the Health and Social Care sector.
Students require an interview and candidates will need a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above, including: English, Maths and Science. Alternatively successful completion of a Level 2 Extended Dipoma in Health and Social Care passed at a minimum of a B, accompanied with Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
