Course Overview

 This is most suitable for those therapist who would be more interested in a counter commercial setting, rather than a Spa environment.  You should have a creative flair with an interest in application to a  suitable commercial setting.    This course delivers a non-invasive aspect to Beauty Therapy and hair styling employment.  

Subjects studied include:

  • Fashion and photographic Make-up
  • Face and Body Art
  • Air-brush Make-up
  • Camouflage Make-up
  • Eyelash extensions
  • Creative Hair-styling
  • Hairstyling Techniques

 Students must be prepared to work on each other and experience all procedures listed above, and work on paying clients as part of the assessment process.

Those with a passion for working in a commercial salon/counter who want to pursue a career into this exciting industry.

Sucessful completion of industry related Level 2 qualification (in hair/make-up or beauty) and a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C) or a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths.

If you do not posess industry related qualifications, then you would need to study our L2 Beauty or L2 Hair Media Make up study program before embarking on this Level three program.  

Units are internally assessed throughout and there are externally set theory written online exams, with a practical examination observed towards the end of each unit.

Candidates will also be required to produce a portfolio of practical examples and reference material.

You must complete a minimum of 45-60 days work experience during the academic year as decided by your tutor, which is likely to consist of 1 day per week and a block of two weeks. This is compulsory for 16-18yrs old, but 19+ there may be some flexibility with this.
 

Employment in related industry, freelance or in a high street salon or a commercial setting or progression to higher education to the Higher National Diploma (HND).

Here at The College we have a reputation for offering excellent skills training. Our lecturers are professionals in their chosen fields, with sound experience, knowledge and expertise.

Working in our public salons and makeup studios you will gain valuable experience in offering a professional salon service, including customer care, client consultation and professional treatments in a realistic working environment.

You will have access to well equipped hairdressing salons and makeup studios situated at our Lansdowne campus in central Bournemouth.
