Course Overview

The Full-time Youth ESOL Programme is a one year course aimed at teenagers (16-18) who have English as a second language.

Most students will go onto other courses at the college after completing this course or find full-time employment. Some may progress within ESOL and the full-time programme.

The course covers the following topics:

English as a Second Language:

- reading

- writing

- listening

- speaking

- grammar

- vocabulary

- maths

-  ICT skills

- Study skills

There are no formal entry requirements. Admission is by interview.

Students throughout the course will build a portfolio of evidence that proves their understanding of a range of topics.

English and maths qualifications are assessed formally under examination conditions.

Most students go on to study a range of courses in the main college. In past years, students have studied IT, Business, Art and Design etc.

This course helps improve your overall English skills and develops your confidence and skills.

There will be a charge of £168 for learning materials and educational visits.
 

Teaching takes place in groups. There is a range of activities that you do in the course. Some are classroom-based and some take place outside or on trips etc.
