Course Overview

Safeguarding and protecting vulnerable individuals is more important than ever, with 6,817 people referred to the Prevent programme in 2023 alone. Our Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent is a nationally recognised qualification, which offers a comprehensive look at safeguarding practices, ensuring you're well-prepared to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Throughout the course, you'll explore key topics such as recognising the various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. You'll also gain a deep understanding of the Prevent Duty, learning how to identify the signs of radicalisation and extremism and respond appropriately.

The course covers legal frameworks like the Children Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance, emphasising your ethical responsibilities in safeguarding. You'll learn how to handle sensitive disclosures, report concerns effectively, and work within multi-agency settings to ensure the safety and well-being of those at risk. By the end, you'll be equipped with the practical knowledge needed to contribute confidently to safeguarding efforts and implement the Prevent strategy in various professional contexts.

No previous experience or knowledge of this subject is required.

You will be provided with an interactive learning account, containing practical advice and guidance to aid your learning journey.  We use an online learning platform known as eAssessor Pro to submit your written answers, all of our online courses are broken into bite-sized topics/sections and you submit your studies for feedback and guidance as you work your way through your chosen course.

Please don’t worry, there are no exams!  Plus, you will supported from start to finish by one of our online course tutors, who are industry experts in their own specialised fields.

  • Safeguarding Officer: Working in schools, colleges, or care environments to ensure the safety and well-being of children or vulnerable adults. This role involves identifying potential risks, reporting concerns, and promoting awareness of safeguarding practices.

  • Youth Worker: Working with young people in community settings, providing guidance and support while also identifying potential safeguarding issues and ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals.

  • Support Worker in Social Care: Supporting vulnerable adults or young people in care settings by ensuring their safety and well-being through safeguarding measures. This role often involves working with those at risk of harm or exploitation and implementing the principles of safeguarding.

  • School Administrator with Safeguarding Responsibilities: In this role, you could support safeguarding protocols in a school setting, helping to ensure the protection of students by following safeguarding guidelines and reporting concerns.

Please note that while this qualification provides a strong foundation, further training or qualifications may be necessary for more advanced or specific roles.

All courses are flexible part-time learning, from the comfort of your own home, requiring 3-4 hours of self-study per week. The duration of this course is 9 weeks.
