Course Overview

While "neuroscience" may sound complex, this exciting field provides profound insights that anyone working with young children should understand.  This course offers an accessible introduction to neuroscience discoveries, showing that around 90% of brain development happens by the age of three, demonstrating the critical impact early relationships and experiences have. In easy-to-grasp language, this course covers recent scientific discoveries about how infants' brains form neural connections in response to experiences.

Learners will gain knowledge on key topics such as stages of brain development, factors that shape brain architecture, and supporting emotional and behavioural regulation capacity. The goal is to equip those who care for young children with an understanding of early brain development and the remarkable impact we can have when we provide nurturing, responsive relationships and environments.

Past Learner Feedback:

★★★★★ 5 Star Review: "I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was nice to be able to relate things into a wider context, and actually applying knowledge that I previously had into the wider pictures. It was a challenging course, but I think that this was what made it so enjoyable. It was nice to be able to use the knowledge that I have from working in SEND and apply this. I think it is always useful to think about trauma and how this affects the brain. Some of the people that I support have had difficult upbringings, and thinking about how this has affected their neurodevelopment is important to remember.  My tutor was fabulous! She was so positive, and understanding. Couldn't fault her in anyway." - Rebecca
