Course Overview
This course is for people who are settled and living in the UK. It will improve your English skills for your work, study and daily life.
It covers all the main skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary.
Our ESOL courses are for people who have come to the UK to live or work and who are settled and living in the UK.
The focus is on improving your confidence in your own English ability to better prepare you for life in the UK. You will develop your spoken fluency to be able to communicate more clearly. You will also focus on developing your writing skills to be able to write emails, letters etc. You will also improve your ability to listen to and read English as well as increasing your vocabulary and accuracy.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is aimed at non-native English Speakers who are settled and living in the UK. It is designed for people to learn English as a non-native (second/foreign) language.

No entry requirements. All prospective students take an English assessment to ensure they are placed at the right level.
The courses are assessed by external examinations taken at various times throughout the year. You will be assessed in the following:
- speaking and listening
- writing
- reading
Students are able to progress from Pre-Entry (PE) or Entry level (E1) English through to Level 2.
Students are also able to progress to main college courses after they have reached the required English level.
All students will be given a coursebook to study from which is included in the course fee.
You will also have access to the college's moodle system which provides online materials especially designed for your use.

People who study the ESOL courses come from a huge range of backgrounds and experiences. You will have the chance to meet new people, learn about culture from Britain and around the world and most importantly improve your English skills.
You will mostly be taught in a standard classroom but there is a big emphasis on pair-work and group-work and using the English language as much as possible in the classroom.
