Course Overview

This program is part of a Green Skills initiative and Skills Boot Camp designed to upskill experienced and qualified electricians.

Learners will:

Know the requirements to install, commission and handover small scale solar photovoltaic systems
Install, commission and handover small scale solar photovoltaic systems
Understand the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points
Design, Install and Commission Electrical Energy Storage Systems
Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to progress to Electric Plus
Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to confidently take on additional electrical installation responsibilities within their within their workplace.
Workshops and practical exercises to develop effective electrical installation skills coupled with workbooks.
With these resources and activities learners will be able to evidence their new found knowledge, demonstrate what they have learnt and put it into practice and reflect on their own and others learning.

Employed or self-employed experienced electricians  wanting to upskill and build confidence to work within the Green Skills economy and work toward achieving the Electric Plus

Previous electrical installation experience and qualifications such as 18th Edition

Learner feedback surveys to assess the courses effectiveness and learner satisfaction.  Trainers evaluate learners' progress and achievements throughout the co

Previous or current Electrical Installations experience.

Attain the Electric Plus and continue to upskill to 19th Edition

Green Skills jobs and contract opportunities with environmental, social value and green skills impact

This program cost is £3,700 but if a small or medium size business with less than 250 employees this would be £370 due to 90% government funding. 

Self employed would get 100% funding

Larger business with more than 250 employees  will receive 70% funding and would need to co invest £1,110 per candidate

The funding is subject to eligibility of learner living or working within Dorset.

Business co investment also will require evidence of outcomes at the end of the training to demonstrate business opportunities gained, promotion gained or contracts won, etc.

This program will be available from the Poole campus from September 2025
