Course Overview

The aim of this qualfication is to provide learners with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0 - 5 years.  The qualification content meets the Department for Education's (DfE) Level 3 full and relevant criteria for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner.  Upon successful completion of this qualfication learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner.

This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 3 ratio as a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years workforce

Learners my work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:

- Senior Nursery Practitioner/Manager (when experience has been gained)

- Classroom Assistant

- Pre-school Deputy/Room Leader/Manager

Students will be required to attend college on a weekly basis and are taught the theory behind a range of topics, such as Safeguarding, Play, Equality and Diversity etc.  We use an e-portfolio system called Onefile, which can be accessed on any suitable electronic device using your personal secure login.  Assignments are set to ensure you have the in-depth knowledge and understanding for the subjects taught, linking your own practical experience to knowledge throughout the course.  You will also be assessed in the workplace and be required to submit a range of additional workplace evidence.

 

Students who are 19+ years old who want to change careers or work in a childcare environment as a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner.

You must be at least 19 years of age.

Learners must be working or volunteering towards a Level 3 job role within an appropriate Early Years setting for a minimum of 15 hours per week.  It is a requirement that  Level 2 Maths and English qualification is achieved prior to starting the Level 3 course, due to the course content and level.


 

 You will need to attend weekly lessons at the College, where assignments will be set covering each unit of the qualification. Attending lessons is vital and will provide you with the information to support your work. Also there will workplace observations carried out by your  Assessor. These will be planned in advance, and agreed with your workplace Manager too.

On successful completion of the Level 3 EYE Diploma, there may be the opportunity to progress onto the Fda Early Years Services (University of Wolverhampton) degree course and then onto the (BA Hons) Early Childhood Studies (Top up) at the college - please see the college website for further details.
