Course Overview

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is for practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally related subject areas and who use the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questionning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements, assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL.  This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments. 

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement consists of one theory unit which assesses a candidate's knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment and two practical units which assess a candidate assessors' competence in assessing a learner's vocational skills, knowledge and understanding both in a work environment and in contexts other than a work environment. These assessments will be observed. 

This course is for someone who is assessing at least 2 learners regulary on a recognised qualification.

You will need to have a professional qualification and/or have demonstrated occupational competence acceptable to your internal quality assurer. You need to be part of an assessment team, have access to a minimum of two learners who are undertaking a vocational programme in your area of expertise. You need to attend standardisation meetings and generally comply with both internal and external quality assurance procedures. 

There will be ongoing assessment during the course and you will complete a portfolio. 

After successful completion of the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement, once you have assessed for an appropriate of time, you may wish to progress to an internal quality assurance (IQA) qualification.
