Course Overview

Through a blend of studio and location work, darkroom, lighting and photographic theory workshops, this course will certainly get your creative juices flowing. This course will get you thinking about how photography can be used as a creative expression to reflect the current world we live in. Plus you will get to create a new or refresh your portfolio of work be it for your own use, exhibition or for industry recognition (BIPP or RPS distinction awards). This 10 week session will focus on students designing and submitting photographic  work  for an end of year exhibition to be displayed alongside the Art and Design departments'  end of year work . The  show will include a private view and invitations will be sent to local dignitaries and business interest . This will provide students wilt a showcase opportunity to celebrate their work - and its great fun.

Photography is or should be a very personal immersive experience . Only you can decide what is the 'decisive moment ' but in order to 'decide' you need to look and feel the shot, That is, feel that the composition and design of the frame you have placed you eye, offers the best interpretation of what you are shooting and more importantly what you want to say . This visualisation  process is key to good photography and goes well beyond the post production realms of AI interpretation - to be discussed."

Your workshops and activities will be facilitated by Patrick Denis. Working in a small group you will work at your own pace, exploring your ideas and developing your photographic skills. There will also be an opportunity for peer coaching and critiquing.

This course isn’t to be thought about in the traditional sense. Think of it as access to an open photographic resource. The course will be split into two 10 week blocks. The course is 10 weeks long and costs £300, that's just shy of £30 per session!

With access to a huge range of equipment including lighting, studios, production and post-production systems, you really can take your photography knowledge to the next level.

Each week you will be set exciting assignments to really get those creative ideas flowing. There will be workshops both in the studio and out on location and you will cover how to use different lighting systems, different camera formats, and different production and post-production platforms.
