Course Overview

Do you enjoy performing? Would you like to build your confidence? Are you looking for a creative outlet and a chance to meet new likeminded people? Did you do drama at school and miss it? Or are you just looking for a fun way to spend an evening learning new skills and expressing yourself?

Come join our Adult Drama Group at Bournemouth and Poole College, we will be meeting for 2 hours a week and will be learning a variety of skills, from improvisation to physical theatre, working with scripts and devising your own work, unarmed and armed stage combat, acting for stage and acting for the camera, and many other performance related expertise.

 

Tuesday 16th April to 26th June 2024. No class on Tuesday 28th May. 6 pm to 8 pm every Tuesday evening.

For the spring term starting April 2024 (16th April 2024, to 26th June 2024) we will be looking at all things ‘Variety!’, over the course of the 10 weeks we will be learning about what makes a good ‘Variety’ Performance and you will have the chance to be part of your own Variety Show!  

Singing, Dancing, and Acting in sketches or dramatic performances. 

You will be taking part in 3 weeks of dance workshops, 3 weeks of singing workshops, and 3 weeks of drama workshops, with a final performance at the end open to friends and families in one of our fantastic studio spaces.  

We will be learning about dance, acting, and singing conventions, what makes an effective dance, acting, or singing performance, and developing the required techniques and skills to perform with confidence in a studio environment. 

 All in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere focusing on having fun and building confidence. With access to our fantastic dance studio and acoustically designed rehearsal spaces, all with the guidance of our experienced staff team of specialists.   

So if you have ever wondered what it would be like to be a variety performer, or want to build your confidence and performance skills, or just want to have some fun singing, acting, and dancing, with some new friends with shared interests, then come and join us!

 

Anyone wishing to spend an evening learning new skills who want to develop transferable skills such as public speaking/performance, group work, creative thinking, problem solving, memory improvement, and the opportunity to advance at your own pace, with the prospect to develop from peer coaching, critique and facilitation/direction by the course leaders.

This is purposefully focused on the wellbeing value of exciting, challenging, and creative Performing. It is also intended to offer a creative distraction from the vicissitudes of the pandemic world we currently live in.
