Course Overview

This Adult course is suitable for those therapists who would be more interested in a career in Nail Technology.  It is designed for those therapists who have constraints with daytime hours of study, and will be delivered one evening a week (5.30-9pm). You should have a creative flair within a commercial setting (counter service/salon) and a passion for offering a professional service. 

Subjects studied include:

  • Nail Art & enhancements (Acrylics, Gel polish)
  • Promote and Sale of Products
  • Client Care and Consultation
  • Health & Safety of treatments

 Students must be prepared to work on each other and experience all procedures listed above, and work on paying clients as part of the assessment process.

Those with a passion for working in the commercial sector as a nail technician in a salon or counter service. 

Sucessful completion of industry related Level 2 qualification (in hair/make-up/beauty) and a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C) or a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths.  You will be expected to work on clients and provide models for assessments.  You will enhance your practical work with  theory elements and assignments that will be worked on at home.  

 

Units are internally assessed throughout and there are externally set theory written exams, with a practical examination observed towards the end of each unit.

Candidates will also be required to produce a portfolio of practical examples and reference material.


 

Employment in related industry, freelance or a counter service, Nail Technician in a commercial setting.

Working in our public salons you will gain valuable experience in offering a professional salon service, including customer care, client consultation and professional treatments in a realistic working environment.

You will have access to well equipped salons situated at our Lansdowne campus in central Bournemouth.

You will also need to wear flat black enclosed shoes (no trainers). You will also need to wear smart black trousers, and a black long-sleeved top (no leggings or jeans)

 

 

You will need to have access to a camera (disposable if necessary) to show evidence of your work for your portfolio.
