Department Overview

Our Health, Care and Science courses enable you to learn through the practical application of skills within the classroom, laboratories and during work placement. You’ll learn through hands-on experiments and practical sessions, presentations, facilitated discussions, visits from outside speakers and demonstrations.

Students opting for Health and Care, will be studying in our newly developed, state-of-the-art hospital ward, complete with teaching facilities, patient mobility equipment, sensory impairment resources and patient simulators, providing students with real-life experience of working on a modern hospital ward. Students opting for science, will study in purpose-built laboratories where they’ll learn and practise the necessary scientific skills required for further study and the workplace.

There are over 350 different careers in health, care and science, and each one of them makes a difference to people's lives every day. Our courses will prepare you for careers in a range of allied health or social care settings, laboratories, or commercial organisations, with roles including: Healthcare Support Worker, Adult Care Worker, Lab Technician, Nurse, Midwife, Paramedic, Forensic Scientist, Biomedical Scientist, Police, Armed Forces, Mental Health Worker, Support Worker, Operating Department Practitioner, Social Worker and Teacher.
