As the largest Apprenticeship provider in the region, providing Apprenticeships right up to Degree level, we work with major local businesses which puts our students at an advantage.

  1. High success rates – we’re proud that the percentage of apprentices that successfully complete their course is well above the national average.
  2. Specialist facilities – we’ve invested £28m to ensure you have access to the best possible learning environment. The investment has seen a Marine Technology Centre, Digital Learning Environments, upgraded Engineering facilities and an Eaton plc sponsored classroom.
  3. Routes into the NHS - we're the chosen provider for the Nursing Associate training and work closely with local NHS Trust primary and social care providers.
  4. Access to the best employers – we work with almost 2,000 businesses, locally and nationally including The Ritz, RNLI, Farrow and Ball, Eaton plc, Diverse Abilities and Sunseeker International.
  5. Trusted – we are respected for the quality of our provision. Businesses validate our courses, so you know what you’re studying meets the needs of business.
  6. Great track record – the fact that previous apprentices now own their businesses and are taking on their own apprentices says it all!
  7. Chance to win awards – our apprentices win local and national awards in skills tests.
  8. Opportunity to go further – you can realise your potential with an Apprenticeship, progressing up the career ladder within your company.
  9. Personal support – you'll be assigned an Apprenticeship Assessor, who will work with you and your employer to make sure that your training is on track and that you are progressing well.
  10. On-site expertise – you'll have access to specialists who can advise you on your Apprenticeship search.
  11. Amazing atmosphere – The College is a great place to be and over 90% of students surveyed would recommend us to a friend. From the Students’ Union where you can become part of the National Students’ Union, taking advantage of their TOTUM NUS Extra Discount Scheme to getting involved in clubs and societies; there's always something to get your teeth into.

It must have been fate that an email from the College landed in my inbox for an Open Event. I decided to pop along to the event to see what options might be out there for me to study and work at the same time. That’s when I found out about the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering.

The fact that a company supports your studies, you are paid, you learn the theory and you get the practice too seemed like a fantastic opportunity.
