UPS Team’s Success in Cross-college Football Tournament
The Student Engagement Team held a cross-college football tournament on Wednesday, 5th December at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth – with staff and students enjoying every minute.

They played four rounds of ten minutes each side. The format was based on the Champions League tournament format, with league games in the morning and a knockout in the afternoon. The teams comprised of six players aside, with rolling subs.
When drilling down to the quarter-finals the following teams played against each other:
1. Sporting Greats Vs Bricklaying Ballers
2. ESOL Survivors B Vs UWatt Electrical
3. CFBI Plumbing FC Vs Studs FC
4. UPS Heat Vs ESOL Survivors
Next, the following teams progressed into the semi-finals:
5. Sporting Greats V CFBI Plumbing FC
6. ESOL Survivors B V UPS Heat
Finally, UPS Heat played the Sporting Greats in the final. UPS Heat team came out as the overall winners!
Darren Parker, Learning Manager for Building Services, organising the teams and keeping the results said: “So, yesterday was the first cross-campus football tournament for five years. I thought I would resurrect this as it hasn't happened for so long. It was great to see, excited students raring to go and compete.
He added: “I could not hide my pride as there were cheers, ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ across the four pitches. A really good atmosphere was created, and all day students were saying how much they enjoyed the day. Well done to the Sports department for having two teams in the final; with UPS Heat winning the coveted trophy 🏆.”
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop leadership and teamwork skills. The event itself fundraised for our BPC Grow charity Bournemouth Food Bank. Teams were charged £1 per player on the day. This is to help support the fantastic work that they do in pursuit of a hunger-free society.
