The Big Butterfly Count (Friday 12th July 2024 -Sunday 4th August 2024)
Bournemouth and Poole College will be reporting in for the Big Butterfly Count.
Butterfly populations have drastically dropped since the 1970s, yet they are so important to ecosystems from pollination to key parts of the food chain. Bournemouth and Poole College staff members will be taking reports of different butterfly species that they’ve spotted within a 15 minute window as required by The Big Butterfly Count. In doing so, we will be playing an important role in assisting ecologists and policy makers across the nation and even in Europe in better deciding how to best protect the wonderful animals.
