Student Comes out on Top in BH Area Hospitality (BAHA) Association Awards
On Monday, 7th October the BH Area Hospitality Association (BAHA) held its recognition awards ceremony with a Bournemouth and Poole College Student taking the runner-up position for the Future of Hospitality Award and also winning the Student of the Year category for the college.
Student Eva Crease, 18, who worked at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth for her apprenticeship in Hospitality, won Bournemouth and Poole College Hospitality Student of the Year and came runner-up in the Future of Hospitality (18-25 years old) category, sponsored by NFU Mutual.
Second to Eva in the Bournemouth and Poole College Hospitality Student of the Year was runner-up Jackson Warwick, who has progressed from Level 2 Hospitality to the Specialised Chefs Apprenticeship Scholarship programme.
Apprentices are required to carry out various tasks related to kitchen duties and meal preparation. The key benefits of apprenticeships are that apprentices spend 20 per cent of their time in college and 80 percent in the workplace during this programme. Eva specifically had to take orders, clear food, and re-set up for breakfast and dinner. She is also now silver-service trained.
Simon Scarborough, who hosted the event at the hotel, said of his apprentice: “We are all delighted that Eva Crease recently won the Bournemouth and Poole Hospitality Student of the Year Award at the BAHA recognition awards on the 6th October 2025.
Eva has blossomed since she started her apprenticeship with us supported by Bournemouth and Poole College, working and studying one day a week has helped Eva to grow in confidence and knowledge, she is a credit to the hotel, college and herself. She definitely has a very bright future and we are very lucky to have her as part of our team. Many congratulations again Eva!”
