Our new School Liaison Manager, Emily Bailey, took things up a gear with newly-invigorated visits for Year 10 students to Bournemouth and Poole College, with tours of both sites, a visit to the student hub, welcome presentations about the college with quizzes and prizes to be won.

The first group of students the college welcomed were from Oak Academy and arrived on the 10th and 11th of July in Poole and the following week on the 16th of July on the Bournemouth campus, and on the 17th of July on the Poole campus. Students were treated to goodies to win in terms of college-branded bottles, bags and pens, and enjoyed time spent as a potential Bournemouth and Poole College student in the college’s student hub – with pool tables, games, music and table football, with other activities.

Kacy, 15, from Oak Academy said: “It’s been a good insight into college life and experiences. I’d like to be a carer so I feel like I might come here.”

Sinead, also 15, said: “The morning has been good and informative. I want to be a speech and language therapist – so I’m unsure the best route yet. But there’s still time.”

Eva, Ruby and Tammara from Bishop of Winchester School, also in Bournemouth said the open morning visit was: ‘interesting’, that they ‘enjoyed it’ and ‘it made [them] want to come to the opening evening’.
