Remembrance Day Service at Bournemouth and Poole College
The college commemorated Remembrance Day at 11:00 am on 11th November.
Students and staff, including ex-service staff at the college, joined forces to create a great tribute to the former war heroes.
Phil Sayles, Principal of Bournemouth and Poole College said: “We pause to reflect on the sacrifices they [the soldiers] fought for our freedom”, as he opened the ceremony.
Level 4 Music students put the sound backdrop to the morning’s procession with wreath and cross laying, and Jack Criticoss played the bugle to the tune of ‘The Last Post’.
Special thanks go to Steve Burns, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm ex-serviceman who is the Learning Manager for Engineering, and the wreath and cross-bearers from all curriculum areas including Fran Bove, Melina Brothers, Brittany Claxton, Darren Parker, Arabella Brown, Pippa Allner and Yvonne Arnold, amongst others. The student representative also laid a cross on the hill.
A poignant two minutes’ silence followed as staff and students commemorated the honoured day.
