In September 2024, Bournemouth and Poole College proudly launched the new FdSc Assistant Practitioner (Health) Higher Level Apprenticeship in partnership with Health Sciences University. This innovative programme supports the growing demand for skilled support roles within the Allied Health Professions.

Apprentices from various healthcare settings have joined the course and are currently working in key areas such as Radiography, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy. They strongly commit to advancing their careers and delivering high-quality care across the sector.

The curriculum was developed in close collaboration with the Health Sciences University following a major stakeholder event that brought together professionals from across the AHP workforce. The result is a dynamic and relevant programme designed to meet the real needs of both learners and the Healthcare system.

Delivered collaboratively between BPC and the Health Sciences University, the course is designed for those already working in support roles who are looking to step up into a band 4 Assistant Practitioner position. It focuses on enabling apprentices to provide compassionate, patient-focused care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
