Kier Group Opens its Doors to Students
During March, the college had the privilege of participating in Kier Group's ‘Open Doors’ initiative, which provided exclusive access to the active construction site of the Bournemouth Campus Redevelopment Project.
Our construction students gained valuable insights into the industry, receiving an overview of the project’s progress and an in-depth look at various career opportunities in the sector. A guided tour of the site offered them a first-hand perspective on the complexities of the build.
College staff also had the opportunity to explore the site, touring the new building and witnessing the remarkable work being carried out on the iconic clock tower.
Mike Lock, Director of Learning for Construction, Building Services & Built Environment said: “Initiatives like this play a vital role in addressing the government’s skills shortage by inspiring the next generation of skilled workers. By offering hands-on experience and direct exposure to real-world construction projects, we help bridge the gap between education and industry needs, ensuring a strong pipeline of future talent. A huge thank you to Kier Group for providing such an inspiring and educational experience!”
