Foundation Students Show Their Talents in the STEPS Drama Group Talent Show
Fifteen Foundation learning students showed off their talents in a memorable and lasting performance of their STEPS Drama Group production on Wednesday, 19th June.
Samuel Dean donned his top hat and entertained a delighted audience – made up of staff members, parents and friends – with his off-the-cuff jokes and introduced 13 separate acts. The acts included Andrea performing Katie Perry’s ‘Fireworks’ with some metaphorical fireworks displays behind her, ‘Sea Shanty’ performed by Taylor, Joshua and Jordan, and Mamma Mia by Claire and Alan with backing singers and dancers.
Act 4, saw Alex and Derry take to the stage to perform an excellent rendition of Dirty Dancing, followed by a whole-class performance of Peter Kay’s ‘Amarillo’. Next up, ‘A Million Dreams’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’ film was performed by Victoria, followed by Little Step Babies – a genuine and modest take on the Baby Shark song. Matty B Raps ‘Monster’ received a thumbs-up from the 100-strong audience.
Five students then performed a great Spice Girls rendition of ‘Who do you think you are?’, followed by Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’ performed by Taylor Lavender. Then, Alex and his backing singers then performed The Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It That Way’. ‘The Swimmers’ then performed an artistic display of floor-based synchronised swimming – to the backdrop of Andrė Rien’s ‘The Beautiful Blue Danube’. The whole group finished the talent show with a stunning performance of George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’.
After the performance, with the audience’s heartfelt appreciation, each of the following students won ‘Student of the Year’ for their group.
