Bournemouth and Poole saw a record number of applications received on Saturday, 5th October at our Open Day – with a total of 56% attendees applying on the day. It also saw a high number of Open Day attendees with 437 in Poole, 298 in Bournemouth and 26 at the Fulcrum Centre.

Both the evening of Thursday, October 3rd and the morning of Saturday, October 5th students passed through the college doors to view the new T Level and University Centre facilities at Poole, the exciting building works-in-progress on the facilities on the Bournemouth site and the composites and carpentry workshops at The Fulcrum Centre in Tower Park.

Students came and had mini-tours of the site, met with and spoke with lecturers and had the opportunity to enrol directly on the day.

At the Poole site, which houses Construction, Creative and Digital Media courses, Health and Social Care, Engineering, Science, Psychology, Foundation, Early Years, Care, Free Online and University Centre degree courses, the apprenticeship talks were very well attended with students showing enthusiasm for apprenticeships across the board. We had 375 registrants and check-in numbers were up by 10 per cent on the same time during the previous year for the Thursday session. The college had a good number of students apply on the day with a total of 119 full-time applications. Company Superior Seals attended both the Thursday and Saturday open events, to talk to students about their futures, with an ex-student Keiron, who now works there and previously studied the Foundation Degree in Engineering Apprenticeship course.

At Bournemouth, where we have Hospitality and Catering, Beauty and Hairdressing, Uniformed Public Services, Sports and ESOL, Business and Accounting, Travel and Tourism and Free Online Courses represented, we had almost 300 attendees registered. We had a further 37 attending over both days at the Fulcrum Centre – our Boatbuilding and Carpentry centre. Rockley Sports attended both open days to talk with students and had some great conversations with would-be sports students.
