College Student Wins Carers’ Young Volunteer Award
Recently, one of our talented students, Taylor, successfully win the Volunteer of the Year Award for Bournemouth at the Young Volunteers Awards held by Dorset Community Action Network.
Taylor, 22, is on the STEPs course (Year 4) and completed his summer work experience programme as a Carer’s Support at Ferndown Community Support CIC. Preparing food and assisting with all catering, Taylor said his favourite part of his role was: “talking to the residents”.
Hannah Hobbs-Chell, Trustee and Co-founder of Ferndown Community Support said: “I nominated Taylor for the award. He’s a superstar. He’s brilliant, so enthusiastic, so proactive. I would happily employ him. Give him the right job, and he’ll shine.”
His teacher, Carol Palmer said: “We’re immensely proud of Taylor and all he has achieved. Work experience is a great opportunity for all our students, and Taylor fully embraced his work experience and impressed his employers tenfold.”
