This achievement is a true reflection of Callum's dedication, hard work, and exceptional skill in the field of Mechanical Design.

Callum would like to say thank you to colleagues at Eaton Mission Systems Division Wimborne for the nominations. He explains: “This has been a hard year for me personally with a close family member passing away in January so to win this award truly means a lot.”

Throughout the year, there have been extremely hard times balancing work, college and Callum’s personal life, he reports. However, it was his determination to make not only his family but also himself proud of his achievements that drove him to put in the effort and achieve a Distinction.

Callum stated: “Since joining Eaton Mission Systems Division Wimborne in September 2021, I have been assigned to the Field Service Engineering and Technical Training team, which is responsible for offsite maintenance support and delivering training of Eaton products to end users. This has often meant working abroad in various countries to carry out maintenance activities such as implementing Service Bulletins or carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks and delivering Technical Training. I am extremely proud to work within this team ensuring customers and end users are satisfied with the services we provide.” Throughout his studies at the college, in collaboration with Bournemouth University, Callum has been able to apply the topics that he has learned into his work which has helped him to better understand the design processes implemented into Mechanical products making him a better engineer.

Callum finished: “I hope to continue pushing towards a Foundation Degree in Mechanical Design and further to hopefully achieve a BSc or higher. Within the next year, I will also have the opportunity to roll-off the apprenticeship scheme at Eaton and become a full-time Field Service Engineer and Technical Trainer where I am aiming to continue putting in the high levels of effort not only at college and university but also in my day-to-day job. Callum also thanked his Higher Education Engineering lecturers; who have dedicated their time to teach not only himself, but his peers, vital engineering topics which have helped me get to where I am today. Their efforts are truly appreciated!"
