On January 30th two senior college representatives were presented with the ‘silver’ award for the category of ‘Best Place to Work’ in the Bournemouth Business Awards. The citation stated: “This organisation is truly more than just a workplace, but a real community where everyone can thrive professionally and personally.” The judges commented that it was clear that Bournemouth and Poole College is a great place to work.

Michelle Foston (Head of People Services) and Debbie Smith (Assistant Principal – People and Student Experience) - were both greatly privileged to take the accolade for the college at the Bournemouth Business Awards, in a lovely venue at the end of Bournemouth Pier.

The weather was also perfect for the seaside visit and this award is a testament to the work that has been achieved through the college’s vision, clarity and inclusivity.

Debbie Smith said: “As well as the awards ceremony there was a great opportunity for networking. It was lovely to hear from so many of the award winners that they either have had apprentices who have trained with us in the past or are currently working with us to train apprentices. Several told us that they themselves had started their careers, and ultimately their businesses, by attending our college as students or apprentices! It was a truly lovely afternoon, to accept the award on behalf of all of our staff.”

The awards, are sponsored by a number of local and national businesses, including Halo, Bluethirst, NFU Mutual and Bournemouth University. For more information on the awards you can view here: https://www.marketingwest.co.uk/bournemouth-business-awards
