Bournemouth and Poole College have joined forces with Bournemouth Foodbank during the 2024/25 academic year. This collaboration will focus on raising awareness about food poverty, fostering a culture of giving, and engaging students in meaningful ways to support local communities in need.

The partnership will focus on the pressing issue of food insecurity within the local area. Through shared campaigns, both students and staff will be encouraged to learn about the realities of food poverty and find out how they can make a positive difference.

Information screens on campus will display key messages about the foodbank’s work, including how to donate, volunteer, and access their services. To support this effort, donation bins will be placed at five strategic locations across both campuses, providing a convenient way for students, staff, and visitors to contribute non-perishable food items.

Engagement at Welcome Fest

As part of the collaborative effort, Bournemouth Foodbank will play a prominent role at Bournemouth & Poole College's Welcome Fest. The Foodbank will engage with both new and returning students through an interactive stand designed to foster participation. Key features of the stand will include a pledge board, where students can commit to supporting the fight against food poverty, and a selfie photobooth to promote the cause across social media. This initiative aims not only to raise awareness but also to inspire students to take meaningful and impactful actions.

Fostering Community Support Through Collaboration

Bournemouth & Poole College has a long-standing dedication to the well-being of both students and the wider community. This partnership with Bournemouth Foodbank further emphasizes the College's commitment to these values. "[We are delighted that our students will have the opportunity to support Bournemouth Foodbank through our BPC Grow Programme. We are committed to fostering citizenship and embedding community engagement and responsibility into the student experience at Bournemouth & Poole College]," stated [Pippa Allner], [Personal Development Manager] at Bournemouth & Poole College.

A Year of Awareness, Action, and Impact

Throughout the academic year, Bournemouth Foodbank and Bournemouth & Poole College will continue to collaborate on a range of initiatives, including student-led fundraising projects, community outreach programs, and ongoing educational campaigns. This partnership extends beyond immediate relief efforts, focusing on cultivating a more informed and united community to confront the growing issue of food poverty.
