Beryl Bikes Partnership

The Transport group in the College’s Sustainability Committee are pleased to announce that we have formed a partnership with Beryl, the leading bike-hire providers in the BCP area. Beryl’s aim is to break down the barriers that are present when cycling in towns and cities, and to provide a sustainable alternative to travel.

The partnership will include:

• Free minute vouchers on Beryl bikes for BPC students and staff
• Attendance at campus events and physical and online sessions
• Cycling and e-scooter safety training
• Group rides led and supported by Beryl
• Assistance and attendance during off-site events.

Through participating in the Student Union’s Volunteering Week and last Social Responsibility Day this year, students from BPC have undertaken volunteering opportunities by becoming Student Influencers for Beryl.

The role of a Student Influencer is to help Beryl champion their service, share the positive impacts of the bikes and help at events. It provides students with a great opportunity to help promote sustainability, gain valuable work experience and get involved in the community. The College will continue to promote this role as part of the partnership, to give students the fantastic opportunity to take part and learn new skills.

We are very excited about the progress of this partnership and to bring greater opportunities for students and staff to cycle to College. Our aim through this partnership, will be to help increase sustainable travel across the campuses and provide greater access to cycling equipment.

The partnership has resulted in students and staff at the College being entitled to a free 200 minute bundle to travel for 200 minutes on a Beryl bike for free! This is an exciting opportunity and a great way to try out the Beryl bikes, to use a sustainable alternative to travel across the area.

The Beryl bikes need to be unlocked and can be located on their app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. You can also find out more information on how to use the bikes on Beryl’s website here.
