Youth Social Action Apprentice, Phoebe McMullen - who represents not one – but three, colleges, spoke at the Association of Colleges (AOC) Annual Conference in Birmingham on Tuesday, 12th November.

Phoebe represents youth social action engagement for students at Bournemouth and Poole College, Wiltshire College, and Weymouth College. Her apprenticeship has seen her establish food security links for students with Bournemouth Foodbank at the college, enabling a food donation bank on site.

Phoebe has also worked on another large project centred around a sensory trail at Upton Country Park in Poole. Phoebe is currently in the second and final year of her course, (a course run by the AOC itself) - the Pears Foundation Youth Social Action Programme: Phase 2.

Phoebe said: “It was great to be asked to speak at such a respected event on behalf of the college. I have thoroughly enjoyed every part of my course to date, and am looking forward, especially, to the Upton Country Park project to reach its natural conclusion. Being involved with projects from the very inception to the finalising stages is thrilling and I have enjoyed the projects whilst working with students to see them reach their goals and get involved in social action.”

At the conference, Phoebe spoke about Community Partnerships within Youth Social Action that she has undertaken as an apprentice.
